About the ForumOur message board is a forum for ideas and information about Long Island's history and genealogy. It is sponsored by the Oyster Bay Historical Society in the town of Oyster Bay on Long Island, NY.
The forum is a place to check with others who may be researching the same family tree, and a place to look for answers that may not emerge from a traditional "trip to the library". And too, it's a place to share that rare slice of history that's too juicy to repress until "proper publication" can be arranged. (The Internet, after all, is world wide and instaneous!)
Although our staff will stop in from time to time to express an opinion, make announcement, or set straight a matter of fact, the forum is not moderated around the clock. If you have particular historical or genealogical inquiry that you'd like us to deal with individually, let us know by submitting a Genealogical Inquiry to the Oyster Bay Historical Society for paid research, or by emailing the Society.
