Subject: Re: Townsend/Doughty/Cromwell/Birdsall/Underhill

I have Doughty and Cromwell in my local ancestry. The
Cromwell I have found is Sarah Cromwell who married
Sylvanus Bedell (Jamaica or Hempstead) in 1749. If I follow
her ancestry (Bejamin Carpenter & Phoebe Carpenter) I
get to Giles Cromwell and then to Oliver Cromwell. This
is the famous Uncle of the even more famous Oliver
Cromwell (Lord Protector) of the mid 1600s.

The Doughty I have is Mary Doughty (daughter of Elias and Sarah Doughty) whom married Thomas Hicks (son of John
Hicks and Horod Long) on July 6, 1676 at Flushing.

So far as I know these are all folks of English ancestry.

Ken
