I served on the USS Patterson (DD 392) from August 1944 until the Japanese surrender. The Patterson was reassigned from the fast carrier task force to the "jeep" carrier task force after the Battle for Lingayen Gulf and stayed with them until the end of the war. I am sure the Oyster Bay was in the "jeep" carrier task force.
I believe there is a naval history section in the Navy Department, Washington, D. C. Suggest you look for a web site or contact the Navy Department directly. I believe that ships logs are kept in a naval archives.
