Subject: Wood Family from Oyster Bay/Hempstead

I am looking for any info. on the early Wood family that lived in the Town of Oyster Bay. Specifically Joseph Wood who died in 1806. He was married to Anne Wood and their children were Mary, Sarah, Robert Daniel, John and James.
My last solid ancestor on my Wood line is John Wood b. 1774 and lived in Hempstead Town (current Franklin Square area). I am trying to determine if Joseph Wood from Oyster Bay was John Wood from Hempstead's father.
Any help on the Wood family in the 1700's would be great.
