It is possible that there is a relationship, but it would have to be way back. My gg grandfather had two daughters and one son, Washington Agustus TOTTEN. W.A. TOTTEN had one daughter, Elizabeth. I loose all track of W.A. TOTTENand his family, wife Maud and daughter Elizabeth, after the 1910 census. A note in my great aunt Dollie Clark's (nee' Josephine SCHULTZE) notebook says that Aunt Maud, buried in Quaker burial ground. I know that Aunt Dollie used to correspond with one of her TOTTEN cousins through HER aunt (my g grandmother's sister Emma L. TOTTEN HEWITT); she worked for ConEd. We do have several pics. of houses one is labeled family homestead "Hicksville" (19th century) and another is W.A.TOTTEN'S house, in Oyster Bay, I believe.
I have recently discovered that my great grandmother, Josephine Davis TOTTEN SCHULTZE's birthday was actually June 13, 1849 and NOT 1851 through the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censes reports. She lied about her age, even her children did not know her true age! This makes sense since my great grandfather, Theodore SCHULTZE was born in 1851 and it wouldn't have been too seemly to have been too much older than one's husband at that time!
