In your system, it would be unusual but possible for an IRQ conflict to occur between the video card and the port used by the printer.

I suggest you uninstall the printer, remove the port, and then put them back.

Uninstall the printer first by double-clicking on the My Computer Icon, then double-clicking on the Pritners folder. Delete the icon associated with your HP printer, which should leave just the icon associated with your fax.

Next remove the printer port by right-clicking on the My Computer Icon, selecting Properties, then the Device Manager folder. Find the line that says Ports (COM & LPT), and open it (double-click or click on the + sign). Remove LPT1.

Unplug the printer cable from the back of the computer and restart the computer. Windows 95 will find the printer port and add it back in, assigning it a location that doesn't conflict with the video card.

Now shut down the computer and re-attach the printer cable. When you start the computer again, Windows will report the new hardware -- your HP printer -- and prompt you to install it using the manufacturer's disks. If HP gives different instructions than I just gave you for installing the printer, follow theirs.

If these steps don't resolve your conflict, and I really think they should, you'll need to contact the manufacturer of the PC for service.
