By installing and re-installing the software, you've discovered that your problem isn't in the software!
There are two other areas to consider: the memory and the hard drive.
It's easier to eliminate the hard drive. Run ScanDisk and Defrag every day and watch for problems. You may have bad spot or spots on the hard drive. It's also possible to have a bad hard drive controller, but there's really no good way to check for this and, fortunately, it's very unlikely.
If hard drive maintenance makes it unlikely that your problem is there, then it's likely to be a memory/motherboard problem. If you have a friend (or friendly dealer), try swapping your RAM (it's probably on two plug-in boards) for known good RAM. If that doesn't eliminate crashing, you need expert help. The problem then is either in the SRAM (cache memory, which you won't be able to find an easy swap for), or in the substrate of the motherboard (nothing at all you could do for this).
Most likely culprit? Bad RAM. But you never know.
Good luck!
