What you've determined, obviously, is that you have a video driver problem. First, get the latest set of drivers for your video card from your PC maker or the video card maker's site. You can also try www.driverguide.com for the driver.
Then change the video adapter to the SVGA Standard and reboot. Don't play with the settings. But at this point I'd undo the changes you made to the SYSTEM.INI file.Now install the new drivers for your video card. That should do it. If not, it's very likely that your video card is defective.
