You're right. It isn't much of a process. Anybody can do it. Like sex. But like sex, it can have some might unpleasant unforseen consequences. And unlike sex, it isn't even fun while you're doing it.
First advice: don't.
If you must, first back up all of your important documents, files, photos, music, etc. to floppies or CDs. Then make sure you have installable copies of all the software you regularly use. The only things built in to Windows are the browser and the Outlook Express. You must have copies of everything else you use. Then get current software drivers for all the hardware in your PC -- your video card, your CD-ROM, CD-RW, sound card, modem, etc. Then make sure you have a copy of Windows that can be installed on a blank drive. Upgrades and OEM copies don't work.Okay, now surf over to www.bootdisk.com and check out their instructions for installing Windows. If you're still on track, get an experienced -- EXPERIENCED! -- geek to hold your hand.
Are you still up for this? Why?
Good luck!
