Subject: Monitor sometimes hangs on stand-by

I leave my monitors on stand-by mode when I am finished using my PCs. They are both ATX PCs that just shut themselves off, so I don't bother turning the monitors off. I have a problem at work and at home sometimes with my monitor hanging in the stand-by mode when I start my PC. I have a Gateway PC at work running Win 98SE (Gateway EV700 monitor) and my home computer is running Win XP Pro (CTX PL-9 monitor). It does not happen every time I turn the computers on, but every so often. I have to press the reset button on my home PC to get the monitor to respond and I have to physically unplug the PC at work and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in to get the monitor to respond. Is there anything I can do about the monitors not responding every time? Both of these computers have done this since they were new.
