Most likely, the hard drive is damaged.

Boot up on your Windows Start Up disk and run Scandisk in the thorough or surface test mode, making sure you opt to fix errors. Be patient, this may take a long time (possibly hours).

If the Scandisk doesn't complete, it's time for a new drive. If it does, run Defrag immediately after Scan Disk, then try booting normally.

In most cases, you'll be back in business. But if you are, run chkdsk from the command prompt to determine the percentage of bad sectors. If it's over 5%, replace the drive even if everything seems okay. In our experience, drives with 5% or more bad sectors don't last long.
