If your partition table has been damaged by a virus, the first step is to use software such as Norton anti-virus, McAfee, Dr. Solomon, etc. to attempt to remove the virus. This may not be successful. If not, you'll have no recourse but to FDISK (wipe out) the drive.
If you are successful in removing the virus, the second and final step is to use software such as Norton Disk Doctor or PC Tools, etc. to attempt to rebuild the partition table from the existing records. Again, the likelihood of success is not that high. Be prepared to have partial success. You may get sufficient access to the hard drive to copy immportant files off to a floppy or zip drive, but not sufficient to actually run software.
Unless you are relatively knowledgeable about PC processes and data recovery, or have a friend to help who is, you should skip recovery and rebuild from the getgo.
Good luck!
