Windows 95 can be installed on a 386DX or higher processor.
The benefit would be that you'd be able to run some of the software that runs in Windows 95 but not Windows 3.xx. However, much of the software written for Windows 95 requires at least a 486 processor, and increasingly, Windows 95
software requires a Pentium processor (e.g., games, speech processors, graphics programs). The primary drawback to installing Windows 95 on a 386 machine would be the apparent slow-down in performance.
Another important consideration: space. Dos + Windows 3.xx takes up about 30 mB of disk space. Windows 95 typically uses 90-130 mB.
Good luck!
