I had the same problem with a "Windrive" on my pc. I had installed
several new apps and wasn't sure which one might have created it. The
Windrive was D: and was allocated 27.5 mb of space. By running
sysedit I found an application that referred to a Windrive D: in the
system.ini file. The application was Hurricane which came with the
McAfee Office I purchased recently. I got rid of the Windrive by going
into Hurricane properties and removing the ramdrive option. Now it
appears that the scanner and related apps are using C:\Windows\Temp
for temporary files and the problem is gone.
