The order isn't critical. We recommend running Scandisk first. Set it to automatically fix any errors it can, to free lost files, and to delete cross-linked files. Then run Defrag.

The logic is that Defrag will stop if it finds file errors and prompt you to run Scandisk, so it's best to run Scandisk first.
