Subject: CD-ROM AND CD-RW NOT WORKING IN WIN2000
I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Could it be at these two devices are damaged or that there's a problem with windows 2000.
I installed my CD-RW. It is recognized by the system and, is drive E on the system. My problem is that it doesn't read, and will not do anything beyond that, i.e. play music cds. When I put the cd in, it makes some kind of noise as if its trying to read the cd, then my system freezes and i have to eject the cd before the system is active again. I downloaded the SONY test software, and installed. The same problem occurs when I tried tested it. I have a SONY CRX140E. Windows 2000 has it lasted as a SCSI. Note, I didn't load the driver for it because I don't have the driver and the cd i have is the Spressa with the abCD and Xcd extreme programs on it. However, I can't install the programs because of this problem.
My CD ROM drive (HI-VAL)is not being recognized my windows2000. I made sure that all the connections were right. I checked and rechecked. It is listed in the bios as a drive on the secondary IDE, and is recognized when the system boots up, but not in windows2000. I went to the HI-VAL website, but seems like there's now driver need for windows 2000 o/s. Please help.
