Subject: Hard Disk Format Problem

I have a 20GB Fujitsu HDD. It ran Linux without a problem until I decided to sell it. I used FDISK to delete the non-DOS partitions and created one big FAT32 partition covering the entire disk. FOrmatted it OK and loaded on Win98SE. In my mate's car the system unit fell over on the way to his house. A few days later when starting the PC it went into Scandisk and froze at 0%. So I used FDISK to start again but this time when checking the integrity, the % indicator only gets so far and then starts from 0% again. Eventually it completes but then when I try and format the disk it gets so far and reports that it is tring to recover allocation units and then gives up with the message Drive Not Ready, Format Terminated. Can anything be done? I have Norton Disk DOctor but not sure how I should use it for this. Hope you or somebody can help me.
