Homepage: hard drive can't be found after formatting win win2k

Subject: hard drive formatting serious problems

i had winxp installed on pc and it was crashed so i try to recover it by compan'y cd at the end it gave me message error 45 crc data error and finally winxp couldn't started due to some ntoskrnl.exe missing file so my friend told me that install win2k and it will formate the harddrive back to in NTFS before it was also in NTFS so i did it but in the middle of formatting the drive my hard drive start having sound like i think it's header sound but it comes after every i think 10 to 15 seconds but not continously so i hit the reset button and try to load it again noe i'm getting the message that you don't have any hard drive installed on system please help me i will be thankful to you someone suggested that try to do the low level formatting so it will recover but that sound click in my mind that if my hard drive is garbage now !!!!!!! :-(
