Subject: start-up problem
My monitor started looking fuzzy, so I took the video card out and put it back in
(thinking it maybe wasn't seated well.) My monitor then showed slowly pulsing
multi-colored squares as it started up. This would happen sometimes, and
sometimes not if I jiggled the monitor plug. I then replaced the card with one
from a computer that works and now when I try to start up it will do the initial
memory test, and then tell me to put in the boot disk and hit any key. I do that
and it says its starting windows 95, then it tells me the hymem.sys is missing
and to make sure its in my windows. I've run Norton Commander and I see that
it is in fact there in windows. When I try to bypass the start-up files and go into
safe mode, I get an A: prompt. Any ideas?
