Windows (3.xx and later) treats the fax software as a printer.
After installing the IBM printer, you should find that Windows recognizes two printers: the fax and the IBM.
You will need to go to Control Panel/Printers and set the IBM printer as the default otherwise Windows will print to the fax by default.
Although the actual sequences are slightly different, in both early (3.xx) and current (95/NT) versions of Windows printers are normally installed by going to Control/Printers and selecting Add Printer and following the prompts.
Some new printers don't use Windows to install themselves but require that you Run the setup program on the installation disks. If your IBM is like that (I doubt it), quick start instructions are printed on the installation disks or CD-ROM jacket.
