Ooops, to avoid confusion, I should add to step 9 that even though installing 2.6.88 fails th4e first time, it DOES CREATE the DLLs you need in the SYSTEM folder as long as a file by the same name doesn't exist in there already.
Once created, you can move or copy them to the WINDOWS folder and re-install succesfully.

Note that reinstalling 2.6.88 with the 2.6.231 dlls STILL in the WINDOWS and/or WINDOWS/SYSTEM and other files STILL in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM/ZoneAlarm folder will not solve the problem with the VSDATA95 and VSMON crashes because you would still be using the buggy DLLs and EXEs.
