Subject: "can't read sector"
I have an IBM clone 486 PC running Windows 95 on a large IDE hard drive, with 16 mB RAM, mouse, joystick, sound card, and CD-ROM.
The system is giving after a period of good performing a number of "can't read sector" on the harddisk. First I replaced the harddisk with a new one, but after succesfull installation of Win95, the same messages are appearing. Using scandisk to repair the damage, results in too many bad sectors. Is this a malfunction of the I/O controller board or is it a false setting in the BIOS ?
