It's been a few years, but if you look at the card rack in the back, there are two circuit boards on the far left that are identical. Pull those two boards out. When you turn the unit on, you should see a dot in the center of the screen for a couple of seconds, and then it will blank out. If there's no dot, and you are probably right about the HV supply. If there's a dot, then ....
