Man Ray Photograph
1924 Photo of Russian Chess Champion Alekhine

The renowned photographer, painter, and sculptor Man Ray (1890-1976) was also a chess enthusiast. He designed and fabricated many unique chess sets, one of which he sold to the Dean of Chess Writers, Fred Reinfeld, when Fred visited Man Ray in his Paris studios during the 1950s.

1924 Photograph by Man Ray of Alexander Alekhine

In the same visit, Fred acquired a photograph Man Ray took of Dr. Alexander Alekhine, the Chess Champion of the World from 1927 to 1935 and 1937 to 1946. It is that photograph you have a chance to purchase in this auction.
