Before establishing Tonkinson Appraisals, Jim was a Vice President for Machinery & Equipment at Daley-Hodkin, LLC, Staff Appraiser at MB Valuation Services, Inc., Manager of the Machinery & Equipment Dept at the Deloitte & Touche Valuation Group, and performed appraisals at Arthur D. Little Valuation and Marshall and Stevens, Inc., too.

Superior Accreditation.
A member of the American Society of Appraisers, Jim has earned their highest level of accreditation, the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation. He currently serves ASA as First Vice President of the Long Island Chapter, having recently completed two consecutive terms as Chapter President. Jim is also an accredited member of the Association of Machinery & Equipment Appraisers, and holds their Certified Equipment Appraiser (CEA) designation.

Jim's experience spans such diverse areas as waste water and water treatment facilities, steel operations, metal processing and fabricating, construction and mining equipment, production machinery and equipment used in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, plastic, communication, wire & cable, woodworking and automotive industries. At home in Spanish as well as English, Jim has appraised equipment in Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Guyana, Dominican Republic, Mexico, European countries, and South Africa, and in Puerto Rico, where he performed his single largest assignment.
